MNSRAA Board of Directors

William "Bill" Baron,

Past President

Picture
Bill attended Mt. Norris Scout Reservation as a Boy Scout in the mid 1960s and worked on the waterfront staff from 1969 through 1974. An Eagle Scout and lifelong Scouter, Bill returned to Mt. Norris in the late 1980's with his son's Troop. Since then, he has been involved in bringing troops from the Champlain Islands for summer camp and off season camping...currently attending with his grandson's troop. A member of the "Mt. Norris Thumb Bangers" in the early 2000's, Bill helped lead an effort by this group to establish a Mt. Norris Scout Reservation Alumni Association and served as its president from 2004 until 2014 and still enjoys banging nails at Mt. Norris.

Kurt Johnson

Vice President

Picture
A camper with Troop 91 in 1969 through 1971, Kevin joined the Mt. Norris Scout Reservation staff as Trading Post Director in 1972 through 1976. An Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor recipient, he is a founding member of MNSRAA. He has served as vice president and treasurer. His son, Ross, is a Star scout in Troop 635. Kevin is also the Committee Chairman of Troop 635 and serves as the Three Rivers District's camping chair. He and his wife, Ann, are the proprietors of Finest Image Photography.

Kurt grew up in NH, and after earning a degree from UNH in chemical engineering in 1979 he moved to Cincinnati, OH to work for Procter & Gamble. It wasn't long before he realized he missed the four seasons of New England and started looking for work closer to home.  He returned to New England, specifically VT, where he ended up working for over 30 years with IBM, and has since retired.  He now spends his spare time with his wife traveling and a participating in a variety of community service programs. He’s continued with scouting primarily focused on MNSRAA camp improvement projects. Kurt also volunteers at UVM and has helped develop several programs there to assist students with job search skills and career guidance. His scouting career began as a den leader in 1996 when his son joined cub scouts. He crossed over to the Underhill/Jericho troop in 2000 and later that year became scoutmaster. Kurt’s son achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2006, and Kurt continued as Scoutmaster until 2011 and is still active in the troop.  Kurt’s biggest passion is backpacking.  He’s completed the Long Trail(2005), Appalachian Trail(2012) and is close to finishing the New England 4000 footers. He’s also an avid skier/snow boarder, canoeist, white water rafter... Pretty much anything in the great outdoors!

Glenn Macy,

Treasurer

Glenn turned eleven at Mt. Norris Scout Reservation, provisional troop, and his Order of the Arrow ordeal coincided with the Apollo 11 moon landing. Glenn represents the alumni association as a member of the Green Mountain Council Executive Board. Glenn is a USAF Lt. Col. (Ret.). He is a member of Vermont Coverts-Woodlands for Wildlife, Inc. and Vermont Woodlands Association, Inc.
